Choose from a flat band and make hearts, stars or letters and words a feature with metal stamps, or make a set of stacking rings, or even a more traditional D shaped band. Our tutor will guide you though every step and show you how to polish your ring so it shines! A loan of tools, and sterling silver to make a ring, or a set of three stacking rings is included.

This course is aimed at beginners looking to explore the art of jewellery in a fun and creative workshop. In the workshop, you will explore techniques of mixed media drawing with a morning demonstration in mono print where you can create an abundance of loose expressive drawing and experimental mark making.
As and introduction to the possibilities in jewellery craft, you will learn fundamental techniques of texturing and sampling used to create your very own unique jewellery outcome. You will leave with a range of printed drawings, base metal samples and a sterling silver pendant with your very own unique texturing.

These day workshops are aimed at those who are new to basic metal working techniques. The aim is for you to make your own piece (or pieces) of jewellery whilst learning various basic techniques, giving you a good foundation of skills by the end of the day. Silver clay is a fantastic material comprised of very fine particles of fine silver, an organic binder and water. The clay can be rolled out, textured with ease and even cut into shapes with a craft knife or mini cookie cutters. It is then dried, fired in a kiln or with a torch, the binder burns away and you are left with a pure silver piece. We offer a 2 hour beginner session and a full day comprehensive course. Our comprehensive introduction to silver clay course is one of our most popular courses, suitable for those who are new to metal clay as well as those who have some experience. You can choose to make several charms for earrings or pendants or take your skills to the next level with a more challenging project like a hollow form such as a lentil bead.

In this class you learn how to make beautiful fused glass pieces suitable for making into jewellery. You will learn how to handle and cut the glass safely and will have the opportunity to work with both dichroic and clear glass. Our tutor will guide you through a variety of projects ensuring that you cover key skills and techniques.
You'll experiment with frit and stringers and making bubbles! You'll learn all about the technical aspects like cathedrals, opalescents and glass compatibility. Your glass pieces will be fused in our kiln ready for you to take away with you at the end of the day.
Included in the price is plenty of glass, your tuition, a loan of tools and unlimited tea and coffee! We will take a break for lunch and you are welcome to bring along a packed lunch or eat at the Summerhall cafe, or any of the various cafes around this area of Edinburgh.
*please be aware that this course focuses on making fused glass pieces - you will be able to make these into jewellery after you take them home*
Glass bead making is a truly mesmerising experience, allowing you to make your own glass beads, to keep or use in your own jewellery designs. We offer 1-1 tuition in melting glass and making your own beads with glass artist Helen Chalmers.
Lessons can be tailored for complete beginners as well as those with a bit of lampwork experience. We offer four hour sessions (£65) where beginners get to grips with the basics, six hour sessions (£95) where you'll learn the basics as well as explore colour combining and design elements, an eight hour session (£115), which gives the opportunity to refine the skills learned in the initial few hours. Alternatively we can arrange a two day course over 12 hours (£180), which is a comprehensive introduction for beginners or improvers looking at setting up their own studio.

In this day workshop students will be introduced to the world of anodized aluminium jewellery. Your tutor Gil Baird will teach you a variety of techniques step by step, including how to colour and add texture to the metal using dyes & inks, dip-dying and the use of resists.
During the day you will experiment and create a range of samples which you can choose from to make into jewellery pieces. At the end of the workshop you can expect to take home a bangle, pendant and a pair of earrings.
No previous experience in jewellery making is necessary. All materials and equipment are provided.

Resin - Weekend Course
Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th November
11am - 5pm
We are delighted to offer another date for our exciting resin class with our tutor Gil Baird. During this two day course you will use moulds to learn the techniques of casting with resin. We will cover how to and add insertions like petals, glitter, charms or other objects into your jewellery. On the first day students will have the opportunity to experiment and make several pieces, including rings, bangles, earrings, charms and pendants etc. On the second day the emphasis will be on how to sand and polish your resin jewellery to a professional standard with a high shine. You'll also learn how to drill holes and finish them properly, attach findings and much, much more.
What to bring?
For this class you don't need to bring anything with you as everything will be provided. However please feel free to bring along your own flowers (note they MUST be dry) or other items for inserting into the resin.

In this workshops students will be introduced to working with resin in frames. You will be using 2 part epoxy resin as you learn how to embed objects into bezels and moulds to make your jewellery.
A variety of items can be embedded into resin including flowers, pictures and photograph, paper, glitter etc. If you have any items you would like to embed please feel free to bring them along though do not worry if you do not as a variety of items will be available on the day.
