*Beginners* Introduction to Silversmithing £120

These day workshops are aimed at those who are new to basic metal working techniques. The aim is for you to make your own piece (or pieces) of jewellery whilst learning various basic techniques, giving you a good foundation of skills by the end of the day. The course fee includes enough sterling silver sheet or wire, to make several pieces of jewellery. Topics covered include:
* Introduction to basic tools
* A safe workspace
* Working with silver
* Using a piercing saw
* Soldering, shaping & texturing metal
* Drilling & Filing
* Annealing & pickling
* Polishing & finishing
Summerhall has both a cafe and bar where can enjoy your lunch, or you are welcome to bring along a packed lunch. There are also several shops and eateries in the area. Maximum number of students -5.
